A Positive Reflection: The Best for Last Mentality #SingleSeries

So today I was sitting at work and I had some music playing in my headphones as background noise while I work as always (to drown out the awkward silence and random bits of conversation in the office space, but that’s beside the point…just a fun fact 😊 lol), and depending on how “in the zone” I am at the moment or how busy the workload is, I’ll sometimes find myself drifting in and out of paying attention to whatever song is playing. I like to mostly listen to something to keep me alert and uplifted in energy throughout the day, and I do like to mix things up in variety but gospel music has always been a frequent go-to of mine because it was what I was raised on, it’s very inspirational and uplifting and I just love the musicality of it. I was coming back to consciousness from a drift-off work moment and heard “Best for Last” by Donald Lawrence and Yolanda Adams playing and I began to pay closer attention to the lyrics and it got me thinking of the outlook that I should have on my life.
When truly listening to the lyrics of the song, it really made me think about how at times we can have moments of feeling down or discouraged about our current situation or past struggles, however the song helped me to realize that your previous history does not define where you will always be. God has each and every one of us on a uniquely designed path in life to fulfill our purpose and God knows exactly what He’s doing with placing various things on our paths at specific times. We may have a few obstacles, stumbling blocks or detours to pop-up from time to time but ultimately God wants to fulfill the desire of the hearts of his children. Those of us that choose to truly follow Him and have desires that are in accordance to His will have to remind ourselves that sometimes He’s just saving the best for last! Things may have seemed dim in the past or you may be currently weary in the present, but God has not forgotten about all of the great things that He has promised you, it’s just our job to trust Him to guide our path and believe that He has the absolute best still in store for the future!
I’ve learned that the best way to get through any tough situation is by gaining control of your state of mind and shifting it to more positive things. If you’re constantly in a state of mind of being worried, doubtful, hurt and angry then it can be a bit hard to believe that you are God’s best and those negative things don’t define who you are. As I’ve stated in a couple of my previous posts included in my #SingleSeries, I talk about my life experiences dealing with my feelings and my lack of experience in the love department (if you haven’t read those, as always feel free to go back and check them out to get caught up to speed😊), and I knew that thinking positively is the key to get through! I may not have crossed over from single life yet, but I’m learning to adopt the best for last mentality when it comes to my desire for love in the future. I know that God loves me and would not place a desire in my heart that He was not capable of fulfilling, so my take on my life-long waiting period is that I am one of God’s best and that He is saving His best for me, I just need to continue to be patient and remain faithful to Him!
So to wrap things up, I hope I was able to encourage someone else whether you can partially relate to what I am going through or not and your situation is completely different from mine. Whatever it is that God has aligned on your path that is a desire of your heart that you’re still waiting to come to pass, I pray that you can shift your mind to think positively and not lose faith and believe that God is just saving your best for last! Grasping a hold of our minds is not the easiest of tasks and we are human so it’s expected to not always have positive circumstances to reflect on, but try your best to find uplifting and inspirational things to keep your mind occupied instead of dwelling on the negative things that can arise. In the words of DJ Khaled, “WE THE BEST” (Ok, I know that was extremely corny and I’m laughing while typing this but I had to, it was too good of an opportunity to pass up, plus you know you read that in his voice too lol 😂😂😂) I hope you truly believe it, because you are indeed the best; God’s best!
Just for Laughs 😀😃😂

Much Love,
Ebony 💜

A Human Nature Reflection: Overcoming the Spirit of Fear

It’s so funny how God works sometimes, my last post was literally just a few days ago talking about seeking inspiration in our everyday lives (if you missed that one, please go back and check it out), and just a few short days later He speaks again! Considering some recent and projected current events, the Lord pressed on my heart to discuss fear. Yes, fear is instilled in us and is essentially a part of our human nature, however if we let it consume our heart, mind, body and spirit, it can manifest and lead into some dangerous territory. I’m sure that everyone has become aware of the devastation that hit Houston, Texas and other surrounding Texas cities as well as parts of Louisiana this past week with Hurricane Harvey. This storm brought flooding to Houston like they’ve never seen before and my mother being from Houston and all the maternal side of my extended family still residing there, it was hard to see on the news on over social media given the close connection, but by the ...

An Annual Reflection: 24 Things I’ve Learned (& Done) While 24!

Throwback LOL Today is officially my 25 th birthday (well technically not at the exact moment I’m writing this, it’s actually 3 weeks to the day away, but it’ll be August 14 th when I’m posting this, lol)! It’s crazy to think that I’ve lived a quarter of a century; time has flown by and I’m grateful to God that He’s brought me this far to see a new year! I may still have a baby face (similar to the throwback you see above) and not look my age but I believe that God has blessed me with wisdom beyond my years (you’d be surprised at the amount of people that think I’m 16 and still in high school, I guess it could be taken as a compliment… but just one I would prefer to receive later in life; when someone says it now I just want to say I’m Grown Y’all!!! Lol, but in reality I just take it in stride)! I usually don’t have pre-mediated blog posts prepared because so far, every post I’ve written was on the spot the same day of post with God given inspiration, and this post was a Go...
